AskGP.com is designed to help answer your questions about God, the Bible, and following Christ.
Please post your questions in the comments section below and we will post them as a separate post.
Questions will be answered by our Lead Pastor, Devin Hudson, during our Q & A series at Grace Point Church throughout the month of May. Ask anything you want but please remember we reserve the right to moderate inappropriate material.
You may post anonymously but feel free to leave your name if you want!
All of the posts have now been answered at some level. This series and website was great for Grace Point. If you asked a question that was answered in the series but missed that Sunday, you can pick up a CD at Grace Point.
God bless, Devin
I have been sick all my life. Does God really allow things to happen for reasons? I was told that god doesn’t allow things to happen, but I beleive differantlly. Can You tell if This is really true.
Why do we obey all of the 10 commandments except the one about the Sabbath? I have heard that it is because the tradition of the Sabbath was a cultural thing that applied in OT times but is not relevant now. But you could say that about anything. How are you supposed to differentiate between that and the other 10 commandments?
King David and a lot of Godly men in the OT had more than one wife and/or concubines. But I haven’t really found anywhere in scripture where they were disciplined by God. I know it doesn’t please God, but do you have a Scripture reference that discounts the practice in relation to these Godly men?
When you make the sign of the cross—you say in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.
Who is the Holy Ghost?
This is a difficult question for me. I want to be saved. I want to feel the Lord in me. I have seen people and watched people who have the spirit in them. What do I need to do? Do I need to open my heart up? Do I wait for it to comes to me? If I go to seek it how will I know I have it? I want the glow I see others with. I believe in God, I believe in the Church, and I do have faith. I am by no means the perfect Christian. I have sinned more than I can count. I want forgiveness. How is salvation reached? Okay way to much but I think you get the picture.
Can a Christian lose their salvation? Can a person who has been saved sin s much that their eternity is no longer secure?
During the Heaven/Hell series you said in Heaven we would go to work like we do here on earth but Heaven would be void of all things that are a result of ‘bad things or evil’. So what would those of us do who are in professions that are a result of those - such as policemen, soldiers, tax attorneys, judges, auditors, if there is no illness would there be a need for doctors, nurses, x-ray techs, no cheating do we need IRS agents? (That was for humor)!
An overview of different religions would be great. I mean, what is a Baptist? Methodist? Lutheran? Catholic?
